About Dorothy Barco Bangert

Dorothy Barco Bangert is a 92-year-old great-grandmother who has deep southern roots in the United States. Her genealogy goes back to 1630 when her direct ancestor, Thomas Barco, immigrated to Virginia from England as an indentured servant. She was married to her sailor (retired Navy) husband, Bill Bangert, for 53 years before he passed away in 2008 from lung cancer. She has two sons, five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

In 2015, Dorothy sold her home, and with her little French Poodle, Miss Dixie, they moved into a retirement community. These past nine years have been happy for them, and they have made many new friends. Grateful for her good health, family, and friends, she is ready to start her own blog, which she will use to tell the world about what her life is like at 92 years old and “Going in Style.”
